Posture and Pain: Why does my neck and back hurt?
Abnormal posture creates abnormal stress on the bones and ligaments of the neck and back. The muscles spasm in order to bring stability to a spine that has been damaged by one traumatic event (car accident or fall) or a series of sustained repetitive traumas (computer use, office work, video games etc). The result is a variety of muscle and ligament disorders including neck pain, headaches, mid back pain, shoulder pain and stiffness, jaw pain (TMJ), low back pain, fatigue, and anxiety. The posture, however, is most often the root cause of these maladies. Come find out what normal posture looks like, how poor posture occurs, and what you can do end a lifetime of pain.

To coincide with this year’s One Book Every Young Child winner, ‘Whose Shoes: A Shoe for Every Job’ by Stephen R. Swinburne, the Ridley Township Public Library and Aston Public Library are starting a shoe donation drive!
From March 1 through April 25, patrons can donate their new or gently used shoes, sneakers, boots, and cleats to the Aston Library and they will be sent to “In Ian’s Boots Inc.”
This foundation is located in Pottstown, PA and is dedicated to providing footwear to those in need, and encouraging groups and individuals to sponsor collections for gently used shoes, winter boots and soccer cleats. This organization then cleans, sanitizes, packages and ships the items to where they are needed the most.
Boxes have been placed in the children’s area and new book area of the library for patrons to place their donations.
