Check out Educational Toys for Free!

You can now check out educational toys for your child from the Aston Public Library! The library has a Codeapillar, a Color Chameleon and a Seek & Spell Penguin available for free checkout with your library card. The Codeapillar teaches kids the basic principles involved in programming, using a caterpillar robot. The Color Chameleon scans and identifies colors, helping children learn to do so themselves . The Seek & Spell Penguin challenges kids to spell words and checks their spellings . These toys offer the kids a fun, accessible way to learn basic literacy skills and broaden their minds.

Borrow GPS from the library!

Do you need help finding where you are going?  Planning a vacation?  New in the area and just getting familiar with the terrain?  Check out GPS device from the Aston Public Library for free.  Go to http://tinyurl.com/GPSReserve17 to reserve the device.  It checks out for one week at a time and comes with newly updated nationwide maps!  It will give verbal turn-by-turn instructions as well as a detailed color display.

Borrow the internet from the library!

You can now check out free library internet access and take it home! The Aston Public Library is offering 4G internet hotspots for free one-week checkout with your library card.  Check out a hotspot and you can get internet access anywhere in the area, and at most beaches.  The service is unlimited, so you can browse, listen to music or watch videos.  Reserve your hotspot by going to www.tinyurl.com/aston4g16.  This service is offered in partnership with Mobile Beacon, a nonprofit dedicated to bridging the digital divide.
A 4G hotspot is a device you can use to connect a mobile-enabled device, such as a laptop, smartphone or tablet, to the Internet. The hotspot is portable, so you can connect your device almost wherever you are, like at home, on the bus or in the park.
The Aston Public Library is the first library in Delaware County to offer this service.

Free Kids Tablet Checkout!

You can now check out a computer tablet loaded with educational games for your child at the Aston Public Library! Best of all, it’s free! The Library has “Nabi 2″s and “Nabi Jr.”s available for checkout at the desk. Both Nabi tablets are full-featured learning tablets built just for kids. They are designed as a learning tools, not just toys. The Nabi 2 is for a slightly older child; Nabi Jr. is for the younger set. Free Roku Checkout!

You can now check out a Roku device that you can use to watch free movies and get TV over the internet at the Aston Public Library! Best of all, it’s free! A Roku is a “set top box” that connects to your television and to your wi-fi. It provides access to several online services providing educational and entertaining content.

Using one of the Library’s Rokus also gives you free access to the Library’s collection of digital movies, including The Age of Adaline, Disney’s Aladdin, Aloha, The Book of Life, Child 44, Danny Collins, Dark Shadows, The Divergent Series: Insurgent, The Duff, Ex Machina, Fifty Shades of Grey, Focus, The Longest Ride, Love and Mercy, Minions, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Nightcrawler, Non-Stop, Paddington, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, Pitch Perfect 2, Run All Night, Disney’s Sleeping Beauty, Still Alice, Terminator: Genisys, The Theory of Everything, Trainwreck, and War Room.
