ASTON LIBRARY NEWS–

Our “Wednesdays at 1PM” special programs for the kids are continuing through the end of the summer –
August 7 we will see David Darwin’s Juggling.
August 14, Peter Moses Music will visit.
August 21, we will have Andrew’s Big Variety Show.
August 28, ScienceTellers will perform

Bring your child to the library and keep him or her reading all summer!
 
There will be a Three Little Pigs STEM activity for ages 6 to 9 on  Monday, August 5th at 11AM. Listen to “Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf” told from the Big Bad Wolf’s point of view, then participate in a STEM challenge.  Participants will develop lifelong character traits such as perseverance and resilience as they try to build a house that the Big Bad Wolf can’t blow down.

We are holding a Coloring Contest for our young patrons!  Kids of all ages are eligible.  An entry form can be obtained at the Library or at www.astonlibrary.org on the web.   Just bring your child’s entry (with the child’s information on the back) to the library’s service desk by the end of August to be considered.
On Friday August 23rd from 10 to 4, the OverDrive Digital Bookmobile will be at our library.  It’s a great opportunity to learn about all the great digital content that is available free with your library card, and how you can use it on your device.

Thursday, August 15th at 6:30PM, the Elmwood Park Zoo is visiting our library.  Bring your child to see a wide variety of animals!  The program will be in the gym, so there should be space for all.

Join our Mah Jongg group!  Learn to play the American version of Mah Jongg on Wednesdays at 6:00 pm at the Library.  Game pieces are provided.

On Monday August 26th at 11AM, the Movie Group will be viewing and discussing the film “A Star is Born”.  There will be a free light lunch provided.

Do you want to be an artist? Email debbie@astonlibrary.org and she will put you on the list for our regular Adult Painting Classes.  We have one at least once every month.  Check out some of the work from our classes, currently viewable in our display case.

The Kids Can Build Club is at the Library on Tuesdays at 4PM  !  Your child can learn to build things using the library’s Lego collection and other materials as well!   All ages are welcome.

Need help with an e-book reader, laptop or tablet computer?  Stop by for our drop-in help time on Friday mornings.  10AM is the time for ebook readers.  11AM is the time for laptops and tablets.

Stop by Tuesdays at 11AM to learn the art of Crochet with our diverse group with many levels of experience.   Stop by Thursdays at 6PM to participate in a wide variety of crafts with an even more diverse group.
