ASTON LIBRARY NEWS–

Saturday July 27th from 6:00 PM  to  9:00 PM the Friends of the Aston Public Library will present Summer Bingo!  Doors open at 5:00 PM.  Admission is $25.  All prizes will be in cash!  Food and refreshments will be sold as well as bingo supplies.  There will also be special raffles!  All proceeds benefit the library!  There will also be special games, food, and bingo supplies sold. 

Genealogical Researcher Barbara Selletti will be visiting Saturday July 13th at 11AM to present “Mining Genealogical Gold in Cyberspace”.  Participants will learn how to effectively use the array of online resources to map their family tree.

Every Wednesday at 1PM during the summer we will have a special kids program.  If your child keeps a log of the books he or she reads, they can also receive a special prize every week for reading.  These are the “Wednesdays at 1” programs coming up next-

July 3 – Silly Joe Variety Show

July 10 – Magician Ed Schmitt

July 17 – Franklin Institute Traveling Science

July 24 – Puppet Pizzazz

July 31 – Bonk Drum Beats

August 7 – David Darwin Juggling

Brian Richards will present his combination of magic, comedy, juggling, storytelling an puppetry on Thursday July 18th at 6:30PM.  All ages of kids are welcome.

We have a Mah Jongg group now.  Learn to play the American version of Mah Jongg on Wednesday’s at 6:00 pm at the Library.  Sets will be supplied to learn on.

There will be a viewing and discussion of the film “Bohemian Rhapsody” on Monday July 29th at 11AM.  A light lunch will be provided.

Free Chair Zumba classes will be on Tuesdays at 2PM this month.  Chair Zumba is a gentle form of the Zumba exercise program, using a chair for support.

Your child can participate in the library’s coloring contest!  Pick up an entry at the library or on our website www.astonlibrary.org .  The theme of the contest is  A Universe of Stories .  Winners will be displayed in the library!

Have you always wanted to be an artist?  Get on the list for our free painting classes by emailing Debbie at debbie@astonlibrary.org !

Pronunciator is the new language learning system available for free with your library card.  Go to www.delcolibraries.org and click on “Explore e-Resources” to access the Pronunciator system, which allows you to learn over 80 languages, plus learn English from your native language!

The Kids Can Build Club is at the Library on Tuesdays at 4PM !  Your child can learn to build things using the library’s Lego collection and other materials as well!   All ages are welcome.

3D Printing Services Available!  Ask Debbie or Stephen at the desk to find out how you can get your first small 3D printed item for free!  Check out the designs the staff have made for ideas. They are on display in our display case!  

Storytime!  Your young child can learn basic literacy skills while having fun!  The Aston Public Library offers story times every week, open to everyone! Join Ms. Debbie for toddler time (ages 2-3) on Tuesdays at 10:30, infant time (up to 24 months) on Wednesdays at 10:30, and preschool time (ages 3-5) on Thursdays at 10:30!

Stop by Tuesdays at 11AM to learn the art of Crochet with our diverse group with many levels of experience.   Stop by Thursdays at 6PM to participate in a wide variety of crafts with an even more diverse group.

Need help with an e-book reader, laptop or tablet computer?  Stop by for our drop-in help time on Friday mornings.  10AM is the time for ebook readers.  11AM is the time for laptops and tablets.
