What is Chair Yoga?
Chair yoga is the term generally used to describe a gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting in a chair or standing, using a chair for support. Chair yoga gives you the benefit of relieving stress and gentle stretching of muscles and joints. With the use of this type of yoga modification, it helps to make yoga easier if you have physical limitations in balance, flexibility, or strength. Yoga is not about trying to twist your body into a pretzel. It is meant to gently stretch and bend the muscles and open air flow with the breath. Whether you are doing classical yoga or chair yoga, you will leave class with a calmer state of mind and a more resilient spirit.
