Free Chair Yoga Classes For Men and Women! Sign Up Now!

Tuesdays June 4, June 11, June 18, (skip June 25), July 2, July 9,
July 16 at 6:30PM each day

“Chair Yoga” is a gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting in a chair or standing, using a chair for support.  It is appropriate for adults of all shapes, sizes, ages and genders.  This session will be instructed by Lisa Dombroski RYT.

This program is made possible by the Friends of Aston Public Library, a membership organization supporting the Library.

Skippyjon Jones Author Judy Schachner To Visit Aston Library

The New York Times No. 1 best- selling children’s author/illustrator, Judy Schachner, will do a book reading and presentation in Degnan Hall, on the property of St. Joseph Church, 3255  Concord Road,  Aston, PA, on Saturday, June 1 at 1 p.m. Degnan Hall is across the street from the Aston Library.  Ms. Schachner’s  Skippyjon Jones’ books tell the story of  a Siamese cat who thinks he is a Chihuahua.  His character has delighted children for nearly a decade.

Following the reading, Ms. Schachner will be available for an author book sale and signing. Also after the reading, children’s activities highlighting cats and dogs will include face painting, animal balloons, cookies and other games.

Admission to the event is free.  Tickets will be sold for cookies and some games.  There will also be raffles featuring a family basket, pet basket as well as other fun items donated by local businesses.  Proceeds from the event will be used to provide children’s programs and to enhance the children’s section of the Aston library.

The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Aston Library.

Pals For Reading Returning to Aston Library!

Your child can expand his or her confidence with reading by practicing with a trained therapy dog!  Pals for Life will be visiting the Aston Library again this June! Reading to animals helps shy children and children having trouble learning to read build confidence in their literacy skills.

These are the dates for the programs:

Wednesday, June 5 at 6:30PM
Wednesday, June 12 at 6:30PM
Wednesday, June 19 at 6:30PM
Wednesday, June 26 at 6:30PM

These programs are free, but registration is required. Space is very limited, and children are expected to attend all four sessions. Please register here:

Science in the Summer coming to the library July 8-11 – REGISTER NOW!

Science in the Summer is coming to the Aston Public Library again this year! The theme this time will be Bioscience.  Science in the Summer is a free science education program that helps elementary school children “grow into science.” The program will be July 8-11 with both morning and afternoon options.

Come to the library to apply! The deadline is May 31. Places will be decided by lottery if there are more kids than spots.

There are two age groups: those entering Grades 2 and 3 (Level I) and those entering Grades 4-6 (Level II).
