New York Life Free Child ID Event at the Library!

Get an ID card for your child and teach your child about safety, Wednesday, June 27th, 2012 at 2PM (after the Peter Moses program) at the Aston Library!

This FREE program is family friendly and fun. Children are digitally fingerprinted and photographed to make ID cards that are given to parents. In the event of an emergency the parents have the child’s photo, fingerprints, and other pertinent information needed by the police. Designed to help children of our community stay safe. There is no cost for families to participate.

Soccer Storytime with Brian Carroll of Philadelphia Union!

On Friday June 15th, 2012 at 3:30PM, the Aston Public Library will be visited by Brian Carroll of the Philadelphia Union soccer team. He will be reading a story for the kids and there will also be activities for the kids as well as the opportunity to meet the soccer star. There will be a door prize at the storytime of four tickets ($400 value, donated by Delaware County Council) and a parking pass for the August 24 match against the Real Salt Lake. There will also be posters of Mr. Carroll promoting reading available to attendees.

Science in the Summer coming to the library July 16-19 – REGISTER NOW!

Science in the Summer is coming to the Aston Public Library again this year! The theme this time will be Physical Science/Electricity. Science in the Summer is a free science education program that helps elementary school children “grow into science.” The program will be July 16-19 with both morning and afternoon options.

Come to the library to apply! The deadline is May 31. Places will be decided by lottery if there are more kids than spots.

There are two age groups: those entering Grades 2 and 3 (Level I) and those entering Grades 4-6 (Level II).

Thomas the Tank Engine Storytime!

There will be a Thomas the Tank Engine storytime for kids age 2-7 on Wednesday, February 29th, 2012 at 6:30PM at the Library. Chinese New Year Program for Kids!

Come join the fun on Saturday, January 21st at 11AM as storyteller Ms. Joanne and the gang celebrate the year of the dragon! We will read stories by Grace Lin and sing songs about dragons! We will also be putting on our own version of the Chinese New Year Dance as well as making our own colorful dragon kites! Appropriate for kids age 2-7 and their parents. Special Story Times Coming Up!

The Library will host special story times for the kids the second week of January! Amy from Jitterbugs Music and Movement will involve the kids in a musical program Tuesday, January 10th! Mr. Malcolm will entertain the kids with a dramatic storytelling program Thursday, January 12th! These programs will be at 10:30AM each day. Please come and join the fun! These programs are recommended for kids aged 2 to 5. Registration is not required for these special events.

Pretzel Program for Kids!

Enjoy a twisted time for the whole family! Aston Library storyteller Ms. Joanne and John Howe, owner of Aston Pretzel Boys will put on a program Wednesday, November 30th at 6:30PM with music, jokes, games and songs, along with a demonstration of how pretzels are made. Appropriate for kids 3-10 and their parents. There will be free refreshments at the end!
