You and your child can join in a special event and help set a record at the
Aston Library. At 10:30AM on October 2nd (Tuesday ), you can join in a reading of Jacky Davis’ Ladybug Girl and the Bug Squad with
storyteller Ms. Joanne. All are welcome at the event. This is part of the
Read for the Record program to set a world record for reading to children.

Get an ID card for your child and teach your child about safety, Saturday, October 6th (during Community Day) from 11AM-3PM at the Aston Library!
This FREE program is family friendly and fun. Children are digitally fingerprinted and photographed to make ID cards that are given to parents. In the event of an emergency the parents have the child’s photo, fingerprints, and other pertinent information needed by the police. Designed to help children of our community stay safe. There is no cost for families to participate.

A special storytime for toddlers 2-3 will be coming for these dates in September, courtesy of the Delaware County Library System:

All will be at 10AM.
Toddler storytimes consist of books, music, fingerplays, rhymes, and puppets. The program is free but please register in advance.

There will be an ice cream story time at the Aston Public Library featuring delicious FREE ice cream donated by Aston’s own Just Homemade Ice Cream store! Ms. Joanne’s program will include the story, Ice Cream Larry by Daniel Pinkwater, which will be read by Edward Finn and Alan Busch, owners of Just Homemade Ice Cream. This free program is appropriate for children aged 2-6 and will be held at the library on Tuesday, August 21 at 10:30am and Thursday, August 23 at 6:30pm.

Your child can expand his or her confidence with reading by practicing with a trained therapy dog! Pals for Life will be visiting the Aston Library again this August! Reading to animals helps shy children and children having trouble learning to read build confidence in their literacy skills.

Wednesday July 18, 2012 at 2PM (after the big Mr. Malcolm program), the Delaware County Highway Traffic Safety Project will be here at the Aston Library to present their Safety Program for the kids! This is a program for kids including seat belt, bicycle and pedestrian safety. Kids will also see a sample airbag, seat belt, stop light, bike helmet and there will be an educational bingo game with small prizes for the winners!
