Science in the Summer coming to the library July 8-11 – REGISTER NOW!

Science in the Summer is coming to the Aston Public Library again this year! The theme this time will be Bioscience.  Science in the Summer is a free science education program that helps elementary school children “grow into science.” The program will be July 8-11 with both morning and afternoon options.

Come to the library to apply! The deadline is May 31. Places will be decided by lottery if there are more kids than spots.

There are two age groups: those entering Grades 2 and 3 (Level I) and those entering Grades 4-6 (Level II).

Bakery Storytime Coming Up!

Aston Public Library will be having a sweet storytime sponsored by Viso’s Authentic Italian Desserts!  Donna Sulak, the decorator from Viso’s will be reading the book “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” by Laura Numeroff.  Ms. Sulak will also be demonstrating how she makes her beautiful cake decorations.  The children will then be treated to delicious cookies donated by the bakery!  The storytime will be held at Aston Public Library Tuesday, February 19 at 10:30 AM. “Train table” and other toys available to kids!

Thanks to a Preschool Connections grant from the state we now have a “train table” for kids to play with in our Children’s area, as well as other educational toys for young children! Come enjoy them with your child!

More furnishings will be coming to the Children’s area as well over the next few months, thanks to this grant funding!

Aston Public Library Youth Art Contest!

The Library is holding an Art Contest for youth in grades K-12! Entries in a wide variety of formats will be accepted at the Library until December 31st. Please include the Title of the piece of artwork, and the artist’s Name, Age, Address, Phone Number, School and Grade on the back of the piece.

People in Delaware County are eligible to participate. Just bring your entry to the library’s service desk.

THE RULES:

  1. Only two different entries per person allowed.
  2. Include your name, address, age and phone number with your entry.
  3. Entries must be original.

Deadline:  Monday, December 31st, 2012.

All entries become property of the Aston Public Library.

Winners will be put on display in the library!
