There will be an ice cream story time at the Aston Public Library featuring delicious FREE ice cream donated by Aston’s own Just Homemade Ice Cream store! Ms. Joanne’s program will include the story, Should I Share My Ice Cream? by Mo Willems, which will be read by the owners of Just Homemade Ice Cream. This free program is appropriate for children aged 2-6 and will be held at the library on Tuesday, August 13 at 10:30am and Thursday, August 15 at 10:30am.

Get an ID card for your child and teach your child about safety, Wednesday August 7, 2013 at 2PM (after the Jitterbugs Music program) at the Aston Library!
This FREE program is family friendly and fun. Children are digitally fingerprinted and photographed to make ID cards that are given to parents. In the event of an emergency the parents have the child’s photo, fingerprints, and other pertinent information needed by the police. Designed to help children of our community stay safe. There is no cost for families to participate.

Aston Public Library will host a children’s bingo night on Monday, June 24th, 2013. This event is free and open to the public. Children of all ages are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
A perfect outing for the whole family, bingo night awards children prizes like free library DVD rentals and small toys.
Bingo runs from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. and is held in the community room. Registration is required.
Recommended for 2nd to 5th graders (approximately 7 to 10 years old).

The New York Times No. 1 best- selling children’s author/illustrator, Judy Schachner, will do a book reading and presentation in Degnan Hall, on the property of St. Joseph Church, 3255 Concord Road, Aston, PA, on Saturday, June 1 at 1 p.m. Degnan Hall is across the street from the Aston Library. Ms. Schachner’s Skippyjon Jones’ books tell the story of a Siamese cat who thinks he is a Chihuahua. His character has delighted children for nearly a decade.
Following the reading, Ms. Schachner will be available for an author book sale and signing. Also after the reading, children’s activities highlighting cats and dogs will include face painting, animal balloons, cookies and other games.
Admission to the event is free. Tickets will be sold for cookies and some games. There will also be raffles featuring a family basket, pet basket as well as other fun items donated by local businesses. Proceeds from the event will be used to provide children’s programs and to enhance the children’s section of the Aston library.
The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Aston Library.

Your child can expand his or her confidence with reading by practicing with a trained therapy dog! Pals for Life will be visiting the Aston Library again this June! Reading to animals helps shy children and children having trouble learning to read build confidence in their literacy skills.
These are the dates for the programs:
