Poetry Competition
For all school-age residents of Delaware County, grades 1-12
CONTEST GUIDELINES
Original poems must be typed or neatly written on 8 1/2” by 11” paper; no odd
size or construction paper, please.
Student’s name

School District
If information is not listed, entry will be disqualified.
No entries will be returned.
Only one poem per student may be entered.
Poems will be judged by grade level.
Deadline for submissions is March 25, 2016.
Winners will be notified.
Please, no calls after poems are submitted!
Entries should be submitted to any public library in Delaware County

You can now check out a computer tablet loaded with educational games for your child at the Aston Public Library! Best of all, it’s free! The Library has “Nabi 2″s and “Nabi Jr.”s available for checkout at the desk. Both Nabi tablets are full-featured learning tablets built just for kids. They are designed as a learning tools, not just toys. The Nabi 2 is for a slightly older child; Nabi Jr. is for the younger set. Kids’ Bingo Night at the library!
Aston Public Library will host a children’s bingo night on Monday December 14th, 2015. This event is free and open to the public. Children of all ages are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
A perfect outing for the whole family, bingo night awards children prizes like free library DVD rentals and small toys.
Bingo runs from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. and is held in the community room. Registration is required.
Recommended for 2nd to 5th graders (approximately 7 to 10 years old).

“The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” show at the library!
Coming to the Aston Library — Tuesday November 17, 2015 at 5PM, The Hampstead Stage Company from New Hampshire will present a live-action dramatization of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” based on the classic by C.S. Lewis!
“This is the first installment in their series of adaptations of the beloved Narnia saga by C.S. Lewis. Step with them through the door of an old wardrobe and enter a snowy world laced with fantasy and wonder. There you will meet quite the cast of magical creatures as you accompany two intelligent and imaginative children, Lucy and Edmund, on their adventures. This delightful story is entertainment for the whole family, while still providing insight about the emotional climate of childhood during World War II. Pals for Reading Pictures!

Pals For Reading Returning to Aston Library!
Your child can expand his or her confidence with reading by practicing with a trained therapy dog! Pals for Life will be visiting the Aston Library again! Reading to animals helps shy children and children having trouble learning to read build confidence in their literacy skills.
These are the dates for the programs:
Wednesday September 30th at 6:30PM
Wednesday October 7th at 6:30PM
Wednesday October 14th at 6:30PM
Wednesday October 21st at 6:30PM
These programs are free, but registration is required. Space is very limited, and children are expected to attend all four sessions.

Storytime will resume after Labor Day
Ms. Nancy is away and we’re taking a break in our kids’ programs until after Labor Day. Ms. Nancy will be back with her Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday programs as usual after September 7th. We hope to see you and your child then!

Design Your Own Superhero Contest!
The Library is holding a Design Your Own Superhero Contest for its young patrons! Kids of all ages are eligible.

Entry forms can also be picked up at the Library.
Just bring your child’s entry (with the child’s information on the back) to the library’s service desk by August 10th to be considered. Winners of the contest will have their entries displayed at the Library.
