Library Property for Sale

The Library is disposing of unneeded property. If you would like to bid on any of these items, send a bid to Stephen by email: director at astonlibrary dot org . The deadline for all bids is 5PM March 5, 2012.  Payment will be accepted by cash or check only at that time.  All items are sold as-is.

There is still a video rental store in Aston! The Library offers $1 three-day DVD rental. There is no membership fee and you are not limited to the DVD selection that can fit in a vending machine! You have access to thousands of titles from throughout the library system, not just what is in our library! Best of all, the money you spend goes back into our library to provide better services to everyone! We just added many of the most popular movies from the past 2 years to our collection so please come have a look!

Free Federal and State Income Tax Prep at the Library!

The Aston Public Library will host free Federal and State Income Tax preparation services from PathwaysPA on Monday, February 6th in the morning and evening. Families or single persons with income below $50,000 per year are eligible for the free filing assistance. What’s offered includes:

  • Certified tax preparers to maximize your refund
  • Free e-filing of federal and state returns
  • Fast refunds through direct deposit to bank or prepaid debit card accounts
  • US Savings bonds can be purchased by checking a box on your tax form

APPOINTMENTS ARE REQUIRED. Call 610-494-5877 to make an appointment today. All filers must bring documentation to their appointment. Call the library for more information about required documentation, or stop by and pick up a sheet listing the documentation.

Chinese New Year Program for Kids!

Come join the fun on Saturday, January 21st at 11AM as storyteller Ms. Joanne and the gang celebrate the year of the dragon!  We will read stories by Grace Lin and sing songs about dragons!  We will also be putting on our own version of the Chinese New Year Dance as well as making our own colorful dragon kites!  Appropriate for kids age 2-7  and their parents.     Go to www.tinyurl.com/astonkidsevents to register!

CONTEST GUIDELINES

Original poems must be typed or neatly written on 8 1/2” by 11” paper; no odd
size or construction paper, please.

Student’s name
Address
Home phone number
Grade
School
School District

If information is not listed, entry will be disqualified.
No entries will be returned.
Only one poem per student may be entered.
Poems will be judged by grade level.

Deadline for submissions is FEBRUARY 24, 2012.
Prizes will include saving bonds for first place winners and
publication in a booklet for all 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place winners.
Winners will be notified.
Please, no calls after poems are submitted!

Entries should be submitted to any public library in Delaware County
