Free Greeting Card Exchange!
You can get a free greeting card at the Library!

Harry Hill, our Board Vice President and one of our founders, has been spearheading a program of free greeting cards. He collects the cards and displays them in the library. So far he has collected and given out 40,000 cards. The free cards have been used by the Franciscan Sisters at the Assisi House, library patrons and many other organizations.

GSK Science in the SummerTM
In collaboration with The Franklin Institute
The 2023 Science in the Summer – Be a Physicist! program invites children entering grades 2 through 6 to take on the role of scientists as they investigate different forms of energy and use the principles of physics to solve real-world problems. The activities encourage children to practice scientific techniques and explore the following big ideas:
- Energy comes in different forms, like heat, light, sound, and motion
- Energy can change from one form into another, move from place to place, or transfer from one object to another
- Scientists use models to test ideas and understand complicated systems
Each Be a Physicist! activity highlights a real-world career through a story that invites children to play the role of a person in that career, while exploring how energy moves, changes, and shapes the world around them. This year’s careers include an Accident Investigator, Laser Scientist, Materials Scientist, Power Plant Engineer, and Sound Engineer.
At Aston, this is a 2 day program. Registering on this page includes both days. Please register each child in your family individually.
The Science in the Summer format has changed! In 2023, classes will be scheduled separately at 23 of our local libraries and led by library staff and volunteers unique to each library. All libraries will offer at least 4 of the 5 career activities as part of the program, using the same curriculum. Each library will hold their own registration. Patrons will know right away if they have been accepted into the program at a specific library and can register at additional libraries if placed on a waitlist. Sign up at this location or check our webpage to see all available openings and contact the local library for any additional registration information.
