Our storytime next Thursday the 3rd at 10:30AM will be reading Otis by Loren Long. This is part of a national program to set a record! Bring your child and be part of it!
Jumpstart’s Read for the Record®, presented in partnership with the Pearson Foundation, is one day of the year when millions of individuals come together to celebrate literacy and support Jumpstart in its efforts to promote early childhood education. On October 3, 2013, millions of adults and children across the country will read Otis by Loren Long, in support of Jumpstart’s mission to work towards the day every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed. The Aston Public Library is holding a photo contest! Take a photo of your family reading together, and enter it for a chance to win! Families in Delaware County are eligible to participate. Just bring your photo to the library’s service desk, or email it to hello@astonlibrary.org.
THE RULES:
1. Only two different entries per family allowed.
2. Photographs only. No drawings etc.
3. Photographs should have been taken in the past year. New photos preferred!
4. Include your name, address, and phone number with your entry.
5. Entries must be original. Do not use photos taken of other families.
Deadline: Friday, October 25, 2013
All entries become property of the Aston Public Library.
Entries will be judged at the library. Winners of the judging will have their photos displayed at the Aston Public Library.

Your kids can practice their good manners at the storytime and tea party at the Aston Public Library this Tuesday or Thursday (September 24 and 26) at 10:30 am! We will be reading Yes, Please! No, Thank You! by Valerie Wheeler and Splat Says Thank You! by Rob Scotton. Everyone may also dress up for this story time in party dresses, suits or other clothes. Juice and cookies will be provided!

Get an ID card for your child and teach your child about safety, Saturday, October 5th (during Community Day) from 11AM-3PM at the Aston Library!
This FREE program is family friendly and fun. Children are digitally fingerprinted and photographed to make ID cards that are given to parents. In the event of an emergency the parents have the child’s photo, fingerprints, and other pertinent information needed by the police. Designed to help children of our community stay safe. There is no cost for families to participate.

The Friends of the Aston Library are looking for more books for the upcoming book sale, especially paperbacks. If you have books published after 2002 that you don’t need, donate them to the Friends so they may find a home and help raise funds for the Library! Donations are accepted whenever the library is open.
