Infant Storytime will return in March!

The popular storytime for babies will return for these dates in March, courtesy of the Delaware County Library System:

Mondays March 1, 8, 15, 22

Aston Library Mission and Vision Statements!

The Aston Public Library Board of Trustees have adopted new Vision and Mission Statements for the Library!

Mission Statement:

The Mission of the Aston Public Library is to provide quality public library service for the citizens of Aston Township and surrounding municipalities in Delaware County by informing, enriching and empowering its citizens.

Vision Statement:

The Aston Public Library will be an essential part of the community and serve as a center of community life. The Library will be the primary place in the community for people of all ages and backgrounds to fulfill their informational, lifelong learning, and recreational reading, viewing and listening needs. The Library will promote literacy and the love of learning through programs for young people. The Library will respond to the public’s evolving needs and expectations to remain relevant and vital to the community.

Power Library powered down-let your legislators know what you think!

This year’s state budget included a 73% cut in the funds that pay for the Power Library, which provides many of our online services. You may have noticed the change this month in the databases that are no longer available to you as a library patron. This includes the loss of Ebscohost among other services. Many of these resources were very valuable to students. For individual libraries to purchase these resources themselves would cost as much as $40,000 per library at a time when library budgets have also been cut significantly in many cases (including here in Aston).

The Governor and the state legislators are now beginning the process for next year’s budget. Let them know what you think about the “Library Access” money that funds these online resources by going here:
